Gov. Susana Martinez has issued an executive order for flags to be flown at half-staff across New Mexico in honor of New Mexico House of Representatives Speaker Ben Luján, who died late Tuesday night after a battle with lung cancer.
Flags will be lowered from sunrise Saturday, Dec. 22 until sundown on Saturday, Dec. 29.
The Luján family also announced arrangements through the Speaker’s office:
Public visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Rotunda of the New Mexico State Capitol.
A second visitation will be held on Friday, Dec. 28 at 5:30 p.m. at the Ben Lujan Gymnasium in Pojoaque with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 29 at 9 a.m. at the Basilica Cathedral of St. Francis in Santa Fe with interment to follow at Sagrado Corazon de Jesus Cemetery in Nambé.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the UNM Cancer Center or to the Speaker Ben Lujan Scholarship Memorial Fund at any Century Bank Branch.
